Dr Patricia Barreto
Clinical Psychologist

Hi. I am Doctor Patricia Barreto, owner and creator of MAPS Integrated Wellness. I hold a Medical/Clinical Psychology doctorate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and have had a passion for wellness since I was a young trainee. In my practice, I conduct psychological, pre-surgical, and forensic evaluations as well as Psychotherapy. I also collaborate with other providers to deliver integrated care to patients. I was born and raised in Havana Cuba but became an adult in the United States. I have traveled to many countries and I find pride in having met many interesting people over the years. I trained in Ballet in Havana during my adolescence. Artistic expression will always be close to my heart and I use it in many of my programs. When I am not at the beach, I can be found with my loved ones, having deep conversations with friends, running around Amelia Park, reading, and playing with my dog. I wish I could go to a play, the ballet, or the symphony more often. My kids and husband are present in almost everything I do. We live in Amelia Island and we love it here. Hope to meet you soon!

Beth Matricia
Office Manager/CFO

Hello. My name is Beth Matricia and I’m the office manager here at MAPS. I’ve lived in Amelia Island my entire life.  I’m an island girl through-and-through and enjoy traveling, scuba diving, yoga, and spending time with my “mini- me”.  I truly believe in MAPS and everything we stand for. As Greg Anderson once said, “Wellness is the complete integration of body, mind, and spirit- the realization that everything we do, think, feel, and believe has an effect on our state of well-being.”

Ashley Sobolewski
Dietitian

Hi. I am Ashley, Registered Dietitian and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist, as well as a Certified Lactation Counselor with nearly two decades of experience in public (Florida Department of Health) and private sectors. I obtained a dietetic nutrition degree from Clemson University, as well as a Master of Public Health degree (community health emphasis) from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Having grown up in rural Vermont, I developed an appreciation for holistic health (body, mind, and Spirit), including restoring one’s body from the inside-out. I specialize in wellness coaching, medical nutrition therapy (especially GI disorders and gut health), and empowering people to create a lifestyle of intuitive and mindful eating. My goal is to empower individuals to connect to their unique blueprints and create fulfilled lives that embrace love, self-care, and delicious foods. One of my nutrition strategies includes intuitive eating, where I teach people to break free from dieting and replace it with nourishing food choices that strengthen one’s body. I have traveled to over 20 different countries, including Italy where I studied abroad and refined my Mediterranean cooking skills.

Christina Wright
Personal Trainer

Hi. I am Christina Wright and I have been in the fitness field for 25 years. I am certified in group fitness by the American Council on Exercise since 1999, and in Personal Training by the National Academy of Sports Medicine since 2018. My clients range from beginner exercisers to past athletes. I am a former Adjunct Professor in the School of Health Studies at the University of Memphis, teaching classes on topics related to overall health and wellness concepts, including nutrition and stress management.

I see health and fitness as lifelong, holistic pursuits. I enjoy the challenge of finding out what works best for my clients and creating workouts using a mix of bodyweight exercises and simple equipment. Programs must be effective, but also have to be fun - bringing elements of overall health into life outside the gym as well as inside. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to fitness.

Dawna Cornelissen

I also have a Masters degree in Women’s Studies from Texas Woman’s University and a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida. I am originally from New Hampshire and moved to Fernandina Beach during high school. Most recently, I worked as a medical social worker for people experiencing chronic illness. I also have experience working with the elderly, survivors of domestic violence, teenagers, and mothers. Starting from a place of radical empathy, I utilize a systems theory approach to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy that helps identify how core beliefs about ourselves affect how we interact with others. My goal as a counselor is to help people find love, acceptance, and validation within themselves, break the trauma cycle, and experience authentic relationships. I am very close to my family and grateful for being part of their lives. I love to travel to other countries, learn new things, and spend time with my dog.

Jade Hebert
MSW

Hello! My name is Jade Hebert (like a-bear), a passionate social worker in the making, and I'm excited to share a bit about my journey with you. I graduated from the University of North Florida with both my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) degrees, and I am currently a registered social work intern in the beautiful state of Florida. As I work toward obtaining my license to practice clinical therapy independently, I am eager to make a positive impact in the world of mental health.

My journey into social work has been profoundly shaped by my own life experiences. At the age of 16, I was adopted, a pivotal moment that ignited my passion for understanding mental health and supporting others facing their own challenges. This personal experience fueled my desire to pursue a career in social work, as I know firsthand the importance of having a strong support system and the right resources to navigate life's hurdles.

During my time at the University of North Florida, I had the incredible opportunity to intern for two years at the Saint Johns County Sheriff's Office. This experience was nothing short of enlightening. I learned so much about the intersection of law enforcement and mental health, and how vital it is to have compassionate social workers in these environments. In my final year, I shifted my focus to community mental health, where I further expanded my knowledge and skills by working with diverse groups of individuals. These experiences have not only honed my abilities as a social worker but have also played a significant role in shaping my identity within this field.

When I'm not busy diving into the intricacies of social work, you can find me enjoying my free time with my beloved animals. They bring so much joy and companionship into my life, and I cherish every moment spent with them. Additionally, I'm an unapologetic fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Whether it's cheering them on during a game or discussing game strategies with fellow fans, my love for the team adds an extra layer of energy to my life.

As I continue this journey, I'm excited about the future and the opportunities to contribute to the mental health community. I believe that through compassion, understanding, and a sprinkle of wit, I can help others find their path to healing and resilience. I look forward to what lies ahead, and I am committed to making a difference—one person at a time.

Claire Hall
Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Hello! My name is Claire Hall, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker offering psychotherapy services. I am committed to helping couples and individuals find more peace and harmony in their lives. I am incredibly passionate about seeing my clients thrive and reach their full potential. I offer assistance in navigating life transitions, managing anxiety, depression, and trauma, healing your relationship with yourself, and discovering the WHY behind what you do and who you are. My preferred modalities are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Person Centered Therapy. We will be exploring deeper topics within the realms of Spirituality, Law of Attraction, and Manifestation and using new tools and ideas to conquer your problems and open a world of possibilities you didn’t know existed. I am a Jacksonville native and received my undergraduate degree from the University of North Florida and my graduate degree from Florida State University. I love to sing, listen and dance to Salsa music, and play with my precious daughter, Layla. I am taking new clients and currently providing individual and coupletherapy sessions on video chat and overthe phone.

Katie Worley
LMFT

My name is Katie Worley, and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist dedicated to supporting individuals and families through life’s challenges. Growing up in the picturesque upstate New York, I developed a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors, which has greatly influenced my journey as a mental health professional. Seven years ago, I made the decision to move south, where I have since embraced new opportunities and challenges that have enriched both my personal and professional life.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut, where I not only focused on my academic pursuits but also had the opportunity to play collegiate softball. This experience taught me invaluable lessons about teamwork, resilience, and the importance of supporting one another, qualities that I integrate into my therapeutic practice. Following my undergraduate studies, I furthered my education by obtaining a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University. During my studies, I developed a deep understanding of relational dynamics and the systemic factors that influence mental health. This knowledge has equipped me to provide comprehensive support to my clients, whether they are facing personal struggles, relationship issues, or family conflicts.

Professionally, I have had the privilege of engaging in crisis work for Nassau County, where I collaborated with local schools, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, and the Fernandina Beach Police Department. This experience has reinforced my belief in the importance of community and the vital role that mental health support plays in crisis situations. I am committed to advocating for mental health awareness and providing resources that help individuals navigate difficult times.

In my practice, I strongly believe in the therapeutic power of animals. I am currently training my chocolate lab, Arco, to become my co-therapist through animal-assisted therapy. Prior to Arco, my yellow lab, Leeka, served as my co-therapist, and I witnessed firsthand the positive impact she had on my clients. The presence of a therapy animal can create a calming environment and foster deeper connections, allowing individuals to open up and engage in the healing process. My love for animals extends beyond my therapy practice; I also have a mini dachshund and five cats, all of whom bring joy and companionship to my life.

Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy photography and cooking. These hobbies allow me to express my creativity and find joy in the simple moments of life. Capturing images of the world around me helps me appreciate the beauty in everyday situations, while cooking provides a comforting and nourishing experience that I often share with friends and family.

Overall, my journey as a marriage and family therapist is guided by my passion for helping others, my love for animals, and my commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for my clients. I look forward to continuing to grow in my profession and making a positive impact on the lives of those I work with.

Photographer
Stacey Rushing

Many people ask who took the captivating pictures we have at the center. Her name is Stacey Rushing (here with the pic that has become our logo, hangs in our waiting room) and she is a wonderful person and talented artist. I asked her to send me description of what she loves and this is what she said: " I am a nature photographer based out of Jacksonville Florida. My family and I are usually out exploring the beaches and nature preserves so I can find those magic moments to capture.

I hope that you enjoy my work as it is truly my passion."
